We focus on investments in early stage, high growth financial services intermediaries, with a particular focus on the insurance market. As a family office we have no external pressure or fund cycles to meet, allowing us the luxury of being able to invest for the long term whilst also supporting management teams to obtain liquidity over a timescale that works for them.
We back exceptional founders with strong management teams and trust them to build successful businesses. Although we typically assume small majority or large minority shareholdings we do not typically take board positions. We prefer to provide informal support and guidance throughout the investment period drawing on decades of experience in financial services and a strong network of industry contacts. As founders and operating company executives we have empathy and deep understanding of the challenges faced by growing businesses allowing us to be a patient and supportive partner for our portfolio companies.
We rarely invest in pure start-ups, preferring to enter at a stage where the initial management team has formed and there has been at least twelve months of trading. We believe in building businesses that can support themselves through strong cashflow, rather than rely on future rounds of funding to survive. As a result, we prefer to be the final round of fund raising before a business hits positive cashflow.
